This year saw the epic conclusion "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" in July. The books are, of course, unbeatable and I'm a huge fan of the books. Especially the last part. The last book is a most appropriate ending to the great epic which entertained millions for a decade. But coming to the movie, I would hate to say I disliked it, but I did dislike it. And all the promos and craziness that's buzzing the theaters, well, that's nothing more than hype. I could bet my EAMCET rank ( coz i really cant lose it if I'm wrong!) that anyone who really read the books, liked them and loved them can barely appreciate the last movie. the reasons go here:
FIRST: why in world were Harry and Voldemort fighting like a pair of muggles , clutching their heads and crawling on the ground and jumping from a high storey building together when both of them were wizards?
SECOND: What happened to the talk that harry gives in the end to Voldemort telling him about the mistakes he made about how Dumbledore's plan backfired and all that? we see nothing of it. there is an incident when harry tries to tell Voldemort all that. it looked as if someone was rushing harry on and he had limited time to tell it.
THIRD: Voldemort is, no doubt, a great wizard and he would definitely wonder how harry lived when harry finally revealed himself. But in the movie Voldemort just started attacking again like his life ambition is to shoot sparks at harry. he didn't even stop to wonder what happened this time. like a stupid obsessive killer he started to hit harry with curses again.
FOURTH: i don't know if I'm wrong this time , coz, like hell, i watched in Telugu. while harry and the rest are saying goodbye to their children we hear a voice frm one of the parents sending their children saying, " don't forget to call on phone!". phone? What the hell was THAT??? of course it could be a mistake in the hideous dubbing.so pardon me if I'm wrong.
FIFTH: Dumbledore's story has not been done justice. He deserves more I'm sure. may be the Yates felt that people would clear their doubts from the book. If that's the case why the hell take a movie?
So these are the main reasons why I didn't like the movie. Of course I'm in no position to criticize but, as a huge fan I still have the right to comment on it. Yet, the rest of the movie was ultimate. And I know its not an easy task to take a movie like harry potter but i was dissatisfied after watching it. May be I had expectations too high. The majority of the movie was a spectacle to watch. The last part was totally crap, there should have been more detail in it. It gave a terrible ending to a spectacular movie. It reversed my idea of the movie as a whole.

how can u say such a thing to the greatest movie ever? u r blind. thats wat ur..
ReplyDeleteThe movie indeed had flaws n only those who read the books would understand them. The points you mentioned, occured to me too.Why were Harry n Voldy fighting like muggles??n they skipped Harry's speach to Voldy about how he never understood the true worth of love! That part was what made a fantastic ending n it was missed out!!!!! >:( Even Snape's past wasn't done much justice! But nevertheless if you compare it to its previous movies,HP7-2 was loads better!! I would place it in the 3rd place after Philosopher's stone n Chamber of secrets.N getting a good movie after 5 lame ones is all that made me HAPPY !!! :D
ReplyDeleteyes, shriya.. u r right, 5 lame ones thats absolutely true.. and fifth movie was too hideous..
ReplyDeleteeven i was happy after watching this because i was terrified they would make it as terrible as the 5 and 6 parts..
i know u can dislike the movie give it to ur reasons. but i hav my own explanation to each of ur point.

It occured to u that they were fighting like muggles., they may be wizards but all of them are humans. the grudge and anger harry had for voldemort is portrayed well in that scene. And u pretty know voldemort's exile for 14 years and how longed he tried to kill the boy who lived. That scene was a perfect blend of human emotions when harry says "C'mon tom this is where we started and this is where we gotta end together"

It's not possible to frame every sentence of the book. There are few emotions which can only be expressed through book., not films.. And nevertheless leave the book, how would u react when u face the murderer of ur parents? You wont sit and have a cozy lecture with him.. there are maybe a thousand things ringing in harry's head at that moment.

Voldemort maybe one of the greatest sorcerer in the world, but remember he was infuriated with the point that he couldn't kill a one year old boy.. so even if he had attacked harry with spells in the last fight, that wouldn't have satisfied him.. Aren't wizards supposed to punch people on face???

This made the whole mess for u., watch these films as they are.., dubbed films from english sucks!! that can be easily visible.. Cheekati lokapu raaraju-the phrase itself sounds too odd..

well i'ld agree with u in this matter.., even snape's story wasn't shown that well.. But remember harry reads the entire story of dumbledore in a book. How the hell is Yates supposed to show that on screen?? Should he focus the camera on that book and give audience enough time to read every sentence?? Dats impossible!!!!!
And on the whole I'ld say this is the perfect climax to an outstanding epic.. And the movies went darker and harder each time but given the story running on the whole these eight movies were the best compliments for the books. And i'm sure the books wouldn't have gained such huge response without the movies..
@koushik poolla, thnx for the feedback, i agree that every detail cant be brought from the book to the movie, yet, a little more detail on dumbledores and snapes part would have been better.
